Laser Hair Removal

Prestige offers the Cynosure Apogee ©, one of the best alexandrite lasers approved by the FDA. Laser is the fastest and most effective choice for hair removal on large body parts such as the arms, legs, chest, back, bikini, and underarms. However, it can be successfully used on facial and all other body areas, there is little to no downtime after the procedure. One of the reasons the Apogee © is the choice of Prestige is speed and comfort it provides the client.
Our laser treatments are individualized for each client. On average 3 to 5 sessions are necessary to ensure all cycles of hair are effectively treated. These sessions are spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart.

What to expect with Laser Hair Removal
- Pre-Treatment
Laser hair removal and tanning are not compatible in most cases. Tanning prior to a session will require turning the power down which reduces the effectiveness of the treatment.
- Post-Treatment
Folliculitis (inflammation of the follicle) and redness may result. In most cases these occurences will subside in about an hour, but some may experience these symptoms longer.

Electrolysis

The first method of permanent hair removal, electrolysis has been performed successfully for over 125 years. While electrolysis is great for eyebrow shaping, it is also used on blonde or gray hair, and in conjunction with laser hair removal.

Since hair grows in cycles, it is best eliminated during the growth cycle. Successful electrology requires a series of scheduled treatments. Although all growing hairs can be treated during your first visit, untreated follicles in the dormant cycle may begin to produce hair within 3-12 weeks. These new hairs can be treated during follow-up visits. Diligent follow-through is critical for success. Normally fine vellus hairs can be permanently removed after only one treatment. Coarse, heavier hairs may require multiple treatments.

Unwanted hair is treated by applying a small dosage of electrical current to the base of the hair follicle using a disposable probe that is no larger than the diameter of the hair shaft. Once the follicle has had sufficient energy the hair is released from the follicle and taken out with a pair of sterile tweezers. You should feel no "plucking" sensations during treatment. Typically the skin will become temporarily reddened. This usually subsides in about an hour.
